Vacation Rentals At The Beach – More Value For Your Dollar
So you’ve decided you want to go to the beach on your next vacation but what next? Consider the advantages of getting a beach rental for your vacation lodging.
1. The first is that the value for the dollar can be much greater than these other options. The upfront cost can be higher but consider what you gain from renting your own beach house.
2. Second beach houses are very spacious. You can lounge around for a day without feeling cooped up inside one room. You can also invite a large group of friends over without feeling crowded. There is usually a porch or a small yard to walk around on.
3. Third if you’re traveling in a group a beach house makes a lot of logistical and economic sense. You can rent one house instead of having to arrange for a block of rooms in a hotel or motel. This makes planning easier. Plus the cost per person may be much less once you average the price out. I recently went on a vacation with a group of twenty people. We could easily have spent twice as much money if we had stayed at a hotel or bed and breakfast.
4. Fourth rental properties give you more privacy than hotels motels or a bed and breakfast do. Noisy neighbors are in the next house instead of the next room so it will be easier to get to sleep if they have a party. You could argue that people will be more likely to party at a beach house. That’s a fair point. But if you vacation on the off season you shouldn’t have a problem. If you get an oceanfront beach rental property you will even have your own private path to the beach.
5. If you’re into cooking you can save quite a bit of cash by preparing all your own meals in a beach house. This is always a nice perk for my family especially since my wife is an excellent cook! I also don’t have to worry as much if my kids get noisy during dinner. You can also store all kinds of snacks and drinks in the sizable refrigerator.
There are other benefits too. A rental may also come with an assortment of books movies and games. It is much easier to enter and exit a beach rental than a hotel too since you just need to step out your front door instead of waiting for an elevator walking through the lobby and across a parking lot. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed the beach rentals I have stayed at and I’d highly recommend them.

The History Of Sri Lanka
The History Of Sri Lanka
Anyone who is about to embark on Sri Lanka travel is probably interested to know the history of the country. It has a very interesting story behind it which began as far back as the 6th Century BC with North Indian settlers. Buddhism shaped the culture which is very visible in the pyramid like architecture which can still be seen today.
It was formerly called Sinhale or Heladiva and comprised of naga yaksha deva raksha and possibly other tribes as well. It is thought that the island was colonised by the Balangoda people 34000 years ago after their remains were discovered there. Many artefacts have been found in caves that suggest that they were Mesolithic hunter gatherers. No doubt anyone who is interested in Sri Lanka travel will be keen to investigate these theories.
It is thought that Sri Lanka had trading links with Ancient Egypt thousands and thousands of years ago. This is because cinnamon which is native to the island was used in Egypt at that time. Even today cinnamon is still one of the main exports of Sri Lanka which is something that those on Sri Lanka travel will discover.
A prince of Kalinga invaded the island from 1215 1232 AD using the Tamil and Kerala mercenaries and the country never recovered from this. This is because irrigation works were destroyed and mosquitoes developed and it was during this time that Jaffna emerged as a sub kingdom.
In 1505 the Portuguese were the first Europeans to embark on Sri Lanka travel. As the country was unable to fend off intruders the Portuguese established a fort in Colombo and gradually extended their control over the coastal areas.
In 1638 the Dutch invaded the island and by 1660 they controlled it all except for the kingdom of Kandy. This wasn’t a happy time for the island as the Catholics were persecuted and people were taxed a lot more than they had been in the past.
The only reason why the British became aware of Sri Lanka travel is because in 1659 a British sea captain was captured by the king of Kandy after he landed there by mistake. He managed to escape 19 years later and wrote an account of what happened while he was imprisoned there.
Not only is the history of the island interesting and intriguing but so is the politics that go on today. This is something that anyone who is planning a Sri Lanka travel experience should research to help them get the most out of their time there.

Jet Lag – How Can Air Travelers Reduce The Risk
Jet Lag – How Can Air Travelers Reduce The Risk When They Fly?
Many medical experts have found that air travelers usually experience a worse bout of jet lag when they fly from east to west. In general the more time zones that they cross flying from east to west the more severe their symptoms of jet lag will be. However passengers will only experience a milder problem with jet lag when their air flights are going from west to east.
Travelers can fly north and south or south to north for thousands of miles without experiencing any jet lag. But as soon as the pilot of the airplane starts to fly in an east to west direction and crosses more than one or two time zones they can experience jet lag.
Passengers will not usually experience the symptoms of jet lag until they exit the plane. That’s the time when their biological clocks will start to make internal adjustments inside their bodies to coincide more closely with the local time at their destination. If air travelers cross one or even two time zones their bodies can usually adjust very quickly. However if a traveler is in poor health or not feeling well before the flight jet lag can compound the problem.
The following information may lessen the effects of jet lag when you fly.
Try to catch a flight that arrives at your vacation destination in daylight hours. Immediately fit in with the new time zone and do not go to bed. If you feel tired and want to take a short snooze do it in a well lighted place.
In the evening when your tired go to sleep in a darkened room. The darkness will help prepare your brain for sleep.
Try to avoid looking at television or computer screens as they are bright and have high frequencies that can easily overstimulate your brain.
Do not consume alcohol or any drinks such as coffee and soda that contain caffeine until your symptoms of jet lag wear off as it can disrupt your sleep.
To help you adjust to the time zone at your destination you may want to consider taking a melatonin tablet or capsule as many air travelers do in the early evening your time. You might still have to take a melatonin for the next three or four evenings in a row before you go to bed in this new location to help you readjust your biological clock. If you not taken melatonin before you should ask your doctor or local pharmacist for more information in regards to the suggested dosage.
